The Quick News — 7/02/08

July 2, 2007
  • snake.gifAin’t It Cool has apparently gotten their hands on an early script for the Escape from New York remake that is currently in the works. The review suggests that the new version is quite similar to the original with a few new ideas thrown into the mix. It’s pretty spoilerific but if you want to check out the review you can do so here.
  • MSNBC is reporting some troubles on the set of Speed Racer. There were some reports of animal abuse and that monkey being used for the movie had bitten a young actor. While the monkey biting was true, reports of monkey abuse appear to be speculation at this point.
  • Word has it that the sequel to the mildly popular Alien vs. Predator has changed names again. What was once being called Alien vs. Predator: AVP2, among others, is now being referred to as Aliens vs. Predator. It’s a very subtle change. Did you catch it?
  • A few new Dark Knight set photos have shown up on the net. These aren’t much to look at but we’re given details about whats going on in the pics. If you want to check it out head over to here.

More Sequels On The Horizon

July 2, 2007

f4.gifMoviehole has gotten some information about some sequels that I felt was worth mentioning.

The first bit of news is about, and this may surprise you, another Fantastic Four sequel.  The move will depend mostly on who they can pit the Four against.  And it sounds like there might not be a Silver Surfer solo project, since the character worked well with in the most recent sequel.

And even though Transformers hasn’t even officially opened in the U.S. a follow up film is already being prepped.  I guess it’s gotten enough good buzz and they think they can make even more money with a sequel.  I can’t wait to see it, I’m going to watch it tonight.

And lastly, it seems likely that TMNT will be getting a sequel too.  Marvel’s Steve Murphy had this to say about it on his blog: “As of two weeks ago Imagi Entertainment (the TMNT movie animation studio) informed Mirage Studios that there was a 50-50 chance of a CGI film sequel. Last week they upped the odds to 70-30 in favor of a sequel, as talks between Imagi and their distribution partners Warner Brothers and the Weinstein Group seem to be heading in a positive direction…”

I thought the new TMNT movie was great and I can’t wait they go with the series should they go with a sequel.

New Haven Changes For ‘Indy 4’

June 27, 2007

newhaven-thumbnail.gifI don’t know if I’ve reported it or not, but the city of New Haven, Connecticut is gearing up to have some scenes from Indiana Jones 4 filmed there. The production asked many of the shops in downtown New Haven to change their outward appearance to give the vibe of the 1957 setting of the film. Someone in the area took the liberty of snapping some photos of these shops and you can take a look at them on the Unofficial Indiana Jones Blog.

Also, if you’re wanting some spoilers on what is going to be filmed in New Haven you can check out this article from the New York Observer.

‘Kill Bill’ Gets A 3 And 4?

June 26, 2007

killbill.gifI saw this yesterday, but wasn’t really sure about it, but now I’ve decided to just go ahead and post it.  CriEnglish.com is saying that Executive Producer E. Bennett Walsh is talking details concerning the supposed 3 and 4 parts to the series:

The plots of Kill Bill 3 and 4 have been shaped and there is a chance director Quentin Tarantino will return to China to shoot them, an executive producer of the first two films said on Friday.

Bennett Walsh said at the Shanghai International Film Festival the third film involves the revenge of two killers whose arms and eyes were hacked by Uma Thurman in the first stories.

The fourth instalment of the popular kung fu action films concerns a cycle of reprisals and daughters who avenge their mother’s deaths, Hangzhou-based newspaper City Express quoted Bennett as saying.

‘Indiana Jones’ First Shoot Day Video

June 26, 2007

indianajones1.gifLast Monday was the first day of shooting on the set of Indiana Jones 4 and the folks at IndianaJones.com were given some of that footage to put up for our viewing. The video is a montage of that first day’s shoots and includes Steven Spielberg toasting the cast and crew, Spielberg directing, and George Lucas hanging around. Don’t worry about spoilers cause there aren’t any to be had, in fact you don’t even get to see any of the main cast.

Kevin Smith Interviews Bruce Willis

June 22, 2007

willissmith.gifHere’s something I thought was pretty cool.  One of my favorite filmmakers, Kevin Smith, did a little interview with one of my favorite actors, Bruce Willis, for Fox to promote Live Free or Die Hard, which comes out next week in case you’ve been living in a box.

The interview isn’t too in depth, but its fun to watch these two guys together just kind of chatting.

Go check it out. Seriously.
