New Poster For ‘Mr. Magorium’

July 5, 2007

magoriums2.gifI told you about Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, which stars Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman, and Jason Bateman, last week. The movie is about a magical toy shop, well there is more too it than that but in general the focus on the toy shop.

Now, Rope of Silicon has gotten a brand new poster for the movie, which you can see in larger form here. The poster looks to be geared more towards the kiddies, but the trailer has me interested. If you haven’t watched it, go and do so now.

‘Cloverfield’ Trailer

July 5, 2007

UPDATE: The video has been pulled from the first link I gave you.  Here’s another one, but the quality isn’t as good.

Just a quick word. In case you haven’t made it to the theaters to check out Transformers, which you should do, and to see the the Cloverfield trailer, I found it online.

My Thoughts On The ‘Cloverfield’ Trailer

July 3, 2007

*UPDATE: New stuff added here and here.

Based on the number of hits I’m getting from people looking at Cloverfield articles, I’d guess it’s pretty popular. I thought I’d give you an overview of the trailer and tell you what I thought.

I sat there watching the previews, waiting. I felt like the only person in the theater who knew what was coming at any moment, our first look at the Cloverfield trailer. I’m going to be describing the trailer so if you don’t want to read about it stop now.

It opens at a going away party. A guy is walking around videotaping everyone and asks them to say a few words for their friend who is leaving (I don’t know why but I can’t remember his name) and we see everything from this video cameras perspective. There is a blackout and an earthquake and the group decides to go on to the roof to see whats going on. Then there’s a huge explosion and fire balls and people are screaming and running down the stairs (the jostling of the camera makes the picture cut in and out) until they get outside and see this huge object being thrown. It’s the head of the Statue of Liberty.

It was pretty incredible. You don’t ever get a look at whats doing the destruction but you can tell it’s a force to be reckoned with. I really like the whole POV with the video camera style and I’m anxious to see what happens with this one. According to the trailer, we’ll find out on 1-18-08.

‘Eastern Promises’ Gets A Release Date

June 28, 2007

eastern-promises.gifAny David Cronenberg fans?  Well if there are then you’re sure to be excited to hear about this.  Coming Soon has learned that Eastern Promises, the latest Cronenberg flick starring Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts, Vincent Cassel and Armin Mueller-Stahl, will be getting a wide theater release on September 14.

According to Coming Soon, the film follows the mysterious and ruthless Nikolai (Mortensen), who is tied to one of London’s most notorious organized crime families. His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna (Watts), an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers potential evidence against the family. Now Nikolai must put into motion a harrowing chain of murder, deceit, and retribution.

Oh and if the description isn’t enough for you, there is now a trailer online here. This one looks and sounds good, got some of that grittiness from A History of Violence.

‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder’…ful Trailer

June 28, 2007

mr-magorium.gifI don’t know how I’ve managed to over look this one, but it’s got me excited.  The film is Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and it’s got a stellar cast — Natalie Portman, Dustin Hoffman, and Jason Bateman — and a phenomenal story to go with it.

As IMDB describes it: Molly Mahoney (Portman) is the awkward and insecure manager of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, the strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world. But when Mr. Magorium, the 243 year-old eccentric who owns the store (Hoffman), bequeaths the store to her, a dark and ominous change begins to take over the once remarkable Emporium.

Take a look at the trailer, and let me know what you think.  This one hits theaters November 17.

New ‘War’ Poster

June 28, 2007

warthumb.gifLionsgate has just released a new poster for their upcoming War. The film stars Jason Statham and Jet Li and has the two battling it out in a story of revenge. Jack Crawford’s (Statham) partner is murdered by Rogue (Li) and Crawford sets out to even the score. I want it to be good, and I like both actors, but this type of movies hit or miss.

If you haven’t see the teaser trailer, you can check it out here. And if you want the full version of the poster you can check it out at Coming Soon.

‘Margot’ Trailer And Now A Poster, Too

June 27, 2007

margot1.gifHere’s some more news from a few days back that I’ve had in queue to post but have yet to do. Nicole Kidman is one of my most favorite actresses, and not just because she is absolutely gorgeous, but because she’s extremely talented, too. She’s in all kinds of movies lately and I say all this because there is another one to add to the list.

This one, Margot at the Wedding, has her playing Margot, the sister of Jennifer Jason Leigh‘s 40-something character who has decided to rush into a marriage with Jack Black. Margot isn’t very happy about this decision and makes it known when she shows up for the wedding.

Word on the street is that the film is pretty good. To check out a larger version of the poster, click on the thumbnail. And if you’re anxious to see what the buzz is about, check out the trailer here.
