‘Sleuth’ Trailer

July 10, 2007

sleuth.gifAny day with a load of new trailers is a good day and that day is today.  Well let’s add one more to the list shall we?  This one is for Sleuth the remake of the 1970 classic which starred Michael Caine and Lawrence Olivier.  The new version also has Caine but in the opposite role that he played in the original and he stars with Jude Law.  In the story, an aging writer (Caine) matches wits with the struggling actor (Law) who has stolen his wife’s heart.

I haven’t seen the original to the footage in the new trailer, but I have to say the film looks very entertaining.  Caine and Law both have a great presence on the big screen and they seem to have a lot of chemistry.  Check out the new trailer here.

Finally, ‘Cloverfield’ Teaser Trailer Officially Online

July 9, 2007

1-18-08.gifNo more scouring the internet look for video camera recording of the infamous Cloverfield trailer, you can now check it out here.  One interesting side note,  is that it’s labeled as 1-18-08.  I’m not saying this is true, but it could be the title title, as was speculated.  Just something to think about.  Also, I wish someone would spy and send me some movie news.

Cinematical was contacted by a spy who is supposedly affiliated with the production and, based on what they posted, the spy doesn’t have anymore of a clue than we do.  The rundown of what they say is that the production is filming in LA under the guise “Slusho”  with the tag line “Slusho: You can’t eat more than just 6” on the trucks.  He also, more or less, squashes rumors about the monster in question being Godzilla.  In the trailer, when you see the tower exploding, that is apparently a giant foot stomping down.  Wow.  And finally about the Ethan Haas sites, he claims that it “kinds makes sense.”   I don’t know what to make of this information, and really you should take it with a grain of salt, too, cause it could very well be a hoax.   Let me know if you find anything else and I’ll do tha same. Updated With New Photo

July 9, 2007

1-18-08pt2.gifI took a step back from the Cloverfield stuff for the weekend so I don’t know how long it’s been up, but if you head over to you can see that there is now a new photo to look at. This one looks like it was taken from the party scene from that the trailer. The timestamp on the photo indicates it took place roughly thirty minutes before the previous photo. The plot just keeps thickening.

While we’re on the subject, there is a lot of discussion going on over at ethanhaaswaswrong. There have been many cryptic messaged being posted and one user has put in a lot of time and effort to translate it. LiveJournal user, never-evil, has the translation here.

Here’s a snippet:
Clearly there are some among you who know the truth and may even be worthy of the Mezin, who have strength of mind and will to see what trial awaits and are not distracted…

Let me know if anyone finds anything else.

The Trailer Guide — 7/7/07

July 7, 2007

casey-affleck.gifIt’s time again, folks. Time to showcase a random assortment of this weeks trailers that you may have missed. These are picked based mostly on what I think you might find interesting and, selfishly, what I think looks interesting. In any case, enjoy.

Gone Baby Gone
This film marks the directorial debut of Ben Affleck. Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, the story is about a two detectives who risk everything by searching for a 4 year old girl that has been abducted from one of the harshest parts of Boston.

Project ‘Cloverfield’ Has A Cast

July 6, 2007

1-18-08.gifSo if you’re reading this you should already be up-to-speed on what Cloverfield is, but if somehow you’ve managed to miss all the news check here and here.

Now, we are finally being given some official casting news.  Apparently, casting for this movie has been just as mysterious and secretive as the movie itself.  No script or scene pages were sent to anyone, potential actors were simply asked if they were interested in participating.  From this process, a cast, of mostly unknowns, was formed —  Michael Stahl-David (The Black Donnellys), Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel (Poseidon) and Lizzie Caplan (The Class).

This monster/disaster movie is really starting to take shape.  I only hope it can live up to all of the hype it’s getting.

Viral Marketing In Full Force For ‘Cloverfield’

July 5, 2007

sphere.gifAlright, so within the past couple of weeks, we’ve found out about J.J. Abrams super secret project, Cloverfield. We know who is writing, directing, and today we get a teaser website. Well that was just the beginning.

Brendon at film ick has has gotten word about a new blog, actually a blog and then another site with some games, that are some how associated with the film, which could be called 1-18-08. The first site is a blog called EthanHaasWasWrong that looks to mainly tell us that someone named Ethan Haas was wrong and the people still believing him are fools. From that blog we find a link to EthanHaasWasRight which flash based site and once loaded will show a sort of sphere shape. I’m going to tell you how to get past the first part now, so if you don’t want to know how stop reading. I’m sure you can figure it out either way.

If you watch carefully, different symbols popup in a specific order. Basically you just click them in that same order and you’ll open up a grainy video. In said video is a guy named Van and he is trying to make sure we’re the type of people he’s looking for to help him. After the video another game comes up, which I’ve yet to figure out. I do know there is a star in the top right and if you hover over it you get some kind of alien alphabet. Let me know if you figure anymore out and I’ll keep you posted on all the latest.
