‘Believe it or Not’ Burton is Out

timburton.gifI wasn’t even aware, but there is a Ripley’s Believe it or Not movie in the works, with the script having been written by Steve OedekerkJim Carrey is set to star as Robert Ripley, the explorer and cartoonist who traveled everywhere looking for odd people and things. Tim Burton has been lined up to directed, but ComingSoon.net is reporting that he has dropped out of the project and Paramount is now looking for a replacement.

The story is about “the eccentric, wealthy, world-renown collector goes in search of a magical, lost tribe of people. He must battle nefarious forces and come to terms with the man behind the mysteries.”

I guess Burton is too busy working on the film version of Sweeney Todd, which is based upon the Broadway musical about Benjamin Barker who, recently released from prison, sets up a barber shop in London and starts creating havoc.  I’m really looking forward to this one, but it won’t be out until January.
