Goyer Meets ‘The Invisible Man’

goyer.gifVariety reports that David Goyer has been set to write and direct a new take on the H.G. Wells classic The Invisible Man. This incarnation will be “conceived as a sequel to Wells’ original tale, the story centers on a British nephew of the original Invisible Man. Once he discovers his uncle’s formula for achieving invisibility, he is recruited by British intelligence agency MI5 during WWII.” Sounds pretty cool.

Goyer most recently directed The Invisible and Blade: Trinity, and he’s also set to direct and write the X-Men series spin-off film Magneto. He also wrote the screenplay for Batman Begins and the upcoming Dark Knight.

This sounds like a remake of “Invisible Agent.” So long as we’re re-imagining things. I would have preferred to see a NIECE (not a nephew) of the original Invisible Man (in the form of Kate Beckinsale, Lena Headey, or perhaps Angelina Jolie), discover her uncle’s formula, use it, and afterwards be recruited by MI-5 to help turn the tide of WWII.
