Harrison And Shia Together On The Set Of ‘Indy 4’

June 30, 2007

harrisonshia.gifSeems someone managed to sneak a camera past the production crew on the set of Indy 4 and snagged some pictures of Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf together for the first time.  If you’re interested, Just Jared has about six pictures of the duo together.  The pictures are kind of humorous.  I think the intent is to make Ford look outdated and uncool when he meets his son, played by Shia.  And giving validity to the rumors about the kind of Shia would be, he is all decked out in his ‘greaser’ attire.

Still too earlier to tell whether this is going to shape up to good or not.  One can only hope

Review — Ratatouille

June 30, 2007

It’s hard not to be excited whenever this Pixar brings a new feature film to theaters. The company has been an animation powerhouse ever since their very first feature, Toy Story, and they’ve continued with that same amount of momentum without losing any steam along the way. (And no, I’m not counting Cars. I know a lot of people didn’t like it but I don’t count it only because I haven’t seen it.) That brings us to the present day and the release of their 8th feature Ratatouille. It’s only a matter of time before the mighty fall, but today is not that day and I’m wondering if it ever come will for Pixar. To put it simply, this film is good. (more…)

June 29, 2007

jim-carrey.gifWhether you believe it or not, there is actually a lot of stuff I don’t get around to posting. It’s a time issue mostly, but sometimes I’m overly picky about what I post. I’m starting this new daily rundown of the casting news and movie news I don’t always get a chance to report on.

-Disney has picked up Pool Rats a family comedy that will star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The film, a semi-autobiographical story inspired by one of the movie’s writers, is about the wild times he had coaching a neighborhood league swim team during a summer that he says changed both his life and his swimmers.

-Megan Fox has signed on to join the cast of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People the adaptation of the Toby Young memoir. Fox will play a “a young Hollywood starlet getting her first taste of fame.” The film also stars Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst, Gillian Anderson, Danny Glover, and Jeff Bridges.

-Marc Forester is teaming back up with Mandate Pictures to direct Land of Roses. Forester previously worked with Mandate on Stranger Than Fiction. The film is inspired by real-life events in post-9/11 America. A group of people try work to get an Middle Eastern father freed from prison after he is wrongfully accused of being a terrorist.

More On ‘Cloverfield’

June 29, 2007

jjabrams.gifThe fine folks over at Coming Soon are now reporting that they, too, have seen the teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams top-secret project Cloverfield. I reported about this just the other day after Ain’t It Cool got a report from someone who saw it.

According to CS, the trailer is awesome but if you haven’t read anything about it up until now you should keep it that way to enhance your viewing experience. Where can you see it? Well the trailer will be showing next week with Transformers of course. I’m quite excited about it already and I haven’t even seen it.

There’s also an official website, but it’s just redirecting to Paramount’s main page right now.

National Lampoon Newest Spoof ‘301’

June 29, 2007

300.gifLooks like National Lampoon might be bringing back their ‘A’ game with their latest movie effort.  National Lampoon’s 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas, written by Jason Burinescu, is a spoof of epic proportions, tackling such titles as 300, Troy, Gladiator, and Braveheart, reports Variety.

The studio is looking to move away from their increasingly disappointed direct-to-DVD efforts, and will be choosing their projects a lot more carefully according to CEO Daniel Laikin.

“As we aggressively move into the inhouse film production business, ‘301’ is the kind of project we get very excited about,” Laikin said. “This will be a great complement to our library.”

‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder’…ful Trailer

June 28, 2007

mr-magorium.gifI don’t know how I’ve managed to over look this one, but it’s got me excited.  The film is Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and it’s got a stellar cast — Natalie Portman, Dustin Hoffman, and Jason Bateman — and a phenomenal story to go with it.

As IMDB describes it: Molly Mahoney (Portman) is the awkward and insecure manager of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, the strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world. But when Mr. Magorium, the 243 year-old eccentric who owns the store (Hoffman), bequeaths the store to her, a dark and ominous change begins to take over the once remarkable Emporium.

Take a look at the trailer, and let me know what you think.  This one hits theaters November 17.

New ‘War’ Poster

June 28, 2007

warthumb.gifLionsgate has just released a new poster for their upcoming War. The film stars Jason Statham and Jet Li and has the two battling it out in a story of revenge. Jack Crawford’s (Statham) partner is murdered by Rogue (Li) and Crawford sets out to even the score. I want it to be good, and I like both actors, but this type of movies hit or miss.

If you haven’t see the teaser trailer, you can check it out here. And if you want the full version of the poster you can check it out at Coming Soon.

‘Valkyrie’ Not Banned After All

June 28, 2007

tomcruise.gifA few days ago, I reported all the drama going on with Valkyrie, the WWII thriller from Bryan Singer.  The film is set to star Tom Cruise as Claus Schenk Graf von Strauffenberg, a German officer who was part of a failed attempt at assassinating  Hitler.  The drama started with the Strauffenberg family disapproving of Cruise because of his beliefs, he’s part of the Church of Scientology, then German government chimed in with similar concerns.  It was big news.  Well today, the news is a little different.

It seems that the film is getting backing from the local film industry there and looks to be getting the greenlight from government as well.

Dirk Kuehnau, head of the Bundesanstalt fuer Immobilienaufgaben (BIMA), said of the situation, “In this country we have constitutionally guaranteed rights.  Articles four and five of the constitution protect freedom of faith and creed and freedom of expression. I don’t think those rights would be denied a film actor.”

And really it seems like Cruises beliefs weren’t the main problem for some, but the fact that the courtyard in which Stauffenberg and his fellow conspirators were shot is now a memorial, but the building in which it’s located, the Bendlerblock, also houses part of the German Ministry of Defense.

So I guess the film will get to shoot in Germany, afterall.  Of course things could change and if they do, I’ll let you know.

Thomas Jane Talks ‘Watchmen’

June 28, 2007

thomasjane.gifShockTillYouDrop got a chance to chat with actor Thomas Jane about his upcoming directorial debut The Dark Country. Of course the conversation shifted gears and the actor was asked about the rumors concerning him being casted as the Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen.

“Is it on the Internet?” Jane asks. Yessir, Tom. It’s out there. “Yeah,” the actor responds in a slow drawl. “I’m staying quiet about it. I know that Zack’s interested and that’s a great compliment.”

If you want to check out more of the interview on The Dark Country, check it out here.

Gosling Delights In ‘Lovely Bones’

June 28, 2007

ryangosling.gifVariety reports that Ryan Gosling is has now been cast to star opposite Rachel Weisz in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.  I told you a little about this film a while back and I really hope this one turns out to be good.  With Weisz, Gosling, and Jackson all on board my hopes are high.

The story, which is an adaptation of the Alice Sebold best-selling novel, revolves around a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family — and her killer — from heaven. Girl must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.  Gosling will play the father of the little girl, and Weisz the mother.

Shooting is set to being in October.
