Alright here’s the scoop.  We’ve decide to move to our own domain.  Don’t worry, you’ll still get all the great news you’ve gotten here, but we’re adding a lot of new stuff to.  Oh and you aren’t being left behind, we want you to come with us.  So for all the latest head on over to commonreview.com.

30 Seconds Of ‘10,000 B.C.’ Trailer

There is now an exclusive look at the first 30 seconds for the 10,000 B.C. trailer.  I didn’t know much about it, but I found out it’s the new prehistoric epic from director Roland Emmeriech.  The film follows a a young hunter on his quest to save the woman he loves but in the process manages to uncover a lost civilization.

As you might expect, you don’t get to see a whole lot in these first 30 second, but there is just enough there to get you interested.  Luckily you won’t have to wait long to see more, at least thats what I gathered from the text at the end of the clip, “WATCH THE FULL TRAILER ON YAHOO! TOMORROW.”

I can’t wait.

‘Sleuth’ Trailer

Any day with a load of new trailers is a good day and that day is today.  Well let’s add one more to the list shall we?  This one is for Sleuth the remake of the 1970 classic which starred Michael Caine and Lawrence Olivier.  The new version also has Caine but in the opposite role that he played in the original and he stars with Jude Law.  In the story, an aging writer (Caine) matches wits with the struggling actor (Law) who has stolen his wife’s heart.

I haven’t seen the original to the footage in the new trailer, but I have to say the film looks very entertaining.  Caine and Law both have a great presence on the big screen and they seem to have a lot of chemistry.  Check out the new trailer here.

HD ‘Bee Movie’ Trailer

I’m a big fan of Jerry Seinfeld, so when I found out about this film, Bee Movie, I got pretty excited. I mean, Seinfeld and 3d animation? Sounds like a winner to me. The film follows Barry B. Benson(Seinfeld), a bee who is looking to spread his wings outside of the hive and really experience what the world has to offer. Along the way he becomes friends with a friendly human(Renée Zellweger) but also finds out that humans in general have been stealing honey from bees and he decides to take the matter to court. Thats right, he sues. Sounds like a funny idea and Seinfeld co-wrote the story so my expectations are high.

I’m sure you’ve seen all the previous trailers with Seinfeld dressed up in a bee costume (which you can watch here) which I’m a fan of, I thought they were brilliant and funny, now there is new HD trailer giving us a little more insight as to whats going on.

Shatner Is Definitely Not In ‘Trek XI’

It’s officially official.  William Shatner is not in the new Star Trek movie.  How do I know?  There is now a video over at ShatnerVision that has him talking about it.  What’s worse is that Leonard Nimoy is getting to make an appearance in the film.  It seems kind of strange to have only one make an appearance.  I don’t really understand it.  Anyway, watch the video.  It’s good.

While we’re talking about the new Trek, there are rumors flying about that Zachary Quinto is in talks to play Spock.  Not sure how I feel about that one way or the other, but nothing is definite anyway.

The Trailer Guide — ‘Valley of Elah’, ‘Get Smart’, and ‘Fred Claus’

I usually do ‘Trailer Guides’ at the end of the week, but who says I can’t change the rules? Plus there are several new trailers available online today, so it’s just easier.

In the Valley of Elah
Another emotionally driven movie from director Paul Haggis (Crash). In the Valley of Elah tells the story of a young soldier that goes AWOL shortly after he returns to the States. The boys father (Tommy Lee Jones) goes searching for him and enlists the aid of a police detective (Charlize Theron) in the place the boy was last seen. Susan Sarandon also stars. This movie looks good. The performances look solid and I already feel a bit invested in the characters despite having only seen the trailer. Be sure to look for this one September 21.

New ‘Spiderwick’ Teaser Online

It seems thats fantasy book big screen adaptations are becoming increasingly popular, and profitable, and so Hollywood keeps churning them out.  The latest, The Spiderwick Chronicles, is based upon a youth series of the same name about a group of siblings and the adventures that they get into upon discovering a book.  I have never read these books, but that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying any of the other countless adaptations, so I doubt it will matter much here.  This is how IMDB describes it: Upon moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures.

Now, we can get our first look at the film via this teaser trailer.  So far the movie looks good and I’m a fan of the actor choices, at least the ones with which I’m familiar.  I don’t know if I’m tired of what but in one see the special effects looked to be lacking a bit.  Regardless, overall there’s enough here to like and it gives us something to look forward to on February 15 2008.

J.J. Abrams Talks ‘Cloverfield’

With all that’s been going on concerning Cloverfield, or 1-18-08 or whatever the heck it’s called, as of late I think it’s about time we heard something from the puppet master himself, .  It seems that he took some time to drop Ain’t It Cool News a line about all these web sites.

Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we’re doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn’t kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat’s about what’s online? So as you can imagine, we’re focusing mostly on THAT. For what it’s worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.

This brings up two points.  The first is that it seems like he’s saying that there are more sites to be found we just haven’t found them yet.  Secondly, if the Haas sites have nothing to do with the film, why did Paramount want the video footage from the site(s) taken off of YouTube?  Anyway, there you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth.  Keep searching guys, and let me know what you find.

Aronofsky To Helm ‘The Fighter’

I heard about this boxing biopic called The Fighter a couple of months ago.  Some really great boxing films already exist (Raging Bull for example) and I can’t help but wonder if anyone would care to see another. Me personally, I don’t mind as long as there is a good story to be told. At that point, it was rumored that Darron Aronofsky would direct the film which is about “Irish” Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and his trainer/brother (Matt Damon).

But now, while talking with MTV Movie Blog, Wahlberg has all but confirmed that Aronofsky is indeed directing the film. “I talked to him [Aronofsky] on the phone two days ago. We’re going to sit down with Matt and just figure out when we can start it.”

Wahlberg seems to be pretty confident about the movie, even though it is still in early pre-production. “If it ain’t gonna be like “Raging Bull,” then it ain’t worth doing,” he exclaimed. “These guys, they have the story. Their lives are incredible. The things that they went through, and the things that they overcame and endured. It’s one of those amazing stories that I hope I get an opportunity to tell in my career. It’s going to be one of them gems.”

I mean that should get you kind of excited to see this one. To me it seems kind of early to be talking up the film. Cause if for some reason it ends up flopping, everyone will be going back to quote this interview. I expect good things, though. Great leading cast and an amazing director to boot. Maybe it could be the next Raging Bull?

Finally, ‘Cloverfield’ Teaser Trailer Officially Online

No more scouring the internet look for video camera recording of the infamous Cloverfield trailer, you can now check it out here.  One interesting side note,  is that it’s labeled as 1-18-08.  I’m not saying this is true, but it could be the title title, as was speculated.  Just something to think about.  Also, I wish someone would spy and send me some movie news.

Cinematical was contacted by a spy who is supposedly affiliated with the production and, based on what they posted, the spy doesn’t have anymore of a clue than we do.  The rundown of what they say is that the production is filming in LA under the guise “Slusho”  with the tag line “Slusho: You can’t eat more than just 6″ on the trucks.  He also, more or less, squashes rumors about the monster in question being Godzilla.  In the trailer, when you see the tower exploding, that is apparently a giant foot stomping down.  Wow.  And finally about the Ethan Haas sites, he claims that it “kinds makes sense.”   I don’t know what to make of this information, and really you should take it with a grain of salt, too, cause it could very well be a hoax.   Let me know if you find anything else and I’ll do tha same.

The Quick News — 7/9/07

• Jennifer Esposito will star with Val Kilmer in Conspiracy. In the film, her character becomes involved with a wounded special-ops Iraq War veteran (Kilmer) after he arrives in town to visit an old friend and complications arise when the friend disappears without a trace.
• Last week, I told you, as reported by film ick, that Michel Gondry was in talks to take over for Tim Burton as director for Ripley’s Believe it or Not! However, it turns out that those reports were false and that Tim Burton is still involved with the project.
• Bourne Ultimatum producer Andrew R. Tennenbaum has just acquired the rights to the Sara Gruen novel Water for Elephants.
• Warner Bros. has bought the rights for the big screen verison of David Morrell’s The Brotherhood of the Rose.
• Aisha Tyler has joined the cast of Black Water Transit.

‘Watchmen’ Casting News

CHUD is reporting today that Billy Crudup has been cast as Dr. Manhattan in Zack Synder’s Watchmen. Their report reads:

A very reliable source tells me that Snyder has settled on Crudup for the role of Watchmen’s only super-powered character, a scientist who accidentally gets annihilated on an atomic level and reconstructs himself into a big, naked, blue, floating demigod.

This is still speculation at this point, but they seem pretty confident about the news.  I imagine we’re going to get first hand news about casting during the Warner Bros. event at SDCC in a couple of weeks.

Boatload Of Baddies For ‘Dark Knight’

More news from the Batman front.  I reported a while back that there were rumors floating around that Anthony Michael Hall was supposedly playing Edward Nygma, whose alter ego is the Riddler, in The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins.  These rumors are now making the rounds again, and I feel pretty confident that they are true.  This might work out fine if they are introducing Nygma pre-Riddler and don’t try to rush to him becoming his bad guy persona.

Not only that, film ick has reported that , who is playing Harvey Dent aka Two-face, has been seen on set, by a spy, in Two-face makeup.  The spy says,”Scarring acoss the nose just a tad bit. One of his eyes is deformed. And little bubbles across the scarring (They’re manips that look similar). Wicked cool.”

I’ll admit, these actors playing these characters is pretty exciting, however, I can’t help but be a little bit nervous.  I keep thinking about Spiderman 3 all the problems that movie had with too many bad guys.  I think Christopher Nolan is a very talented director and more that capable of handling the overload (if one exists), but I’m just not sure how this will play out.  The guys at film ick commented that maybe Two-face’s part would end up being an epilogue and kind of set up the scenario for a 3rd sequel.  That would definitely lighten the load, but there’s still a lot going on.

‘11th Hour’ Trailer

Just as The Inconvenient Truth did, I’m sure this is going to spark some sort of controversy or debate, which can be a good thing if people are open minded and level headed enough to discuss it.  In any case, the 11th Hour is a documentary that Leonardo DiCaprio and a team of film makers have been working on for a couple years.  The film, as described by IMDB, is a look at the state of the global environment including visionary and practical solutions for restoring the planet’s ecosystems.  It looks to be one of those powerful, thought provoking pieces and I am looking forward to it’s August release.
